Softball Recap: Chenango Valley Starts Season with Defeat at Home

Chenango Valley unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Horseheads Blue Raiders on Thursday, falling 13-5. The Warriors were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2023.

Chenango Valley saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makenzi Reinhard, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Horseheads pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Chenango Valley will head out to square off against Oneonta at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Horseheads, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Vestal at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
