Baseball Recap: Foothill Takes a Loss

Foothill might've scored the first runs on Friday, but it was El Modena who claimed the real prize. The Knights fell just short of the Vanguards by a score of 4-3. The Knights were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Vanguards earlier this season, when they won 4-1.

Foothill got a good showing from Adam Ujiie, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. That's the fewest hits Ujiie has allowed since back in March.

On the hitting side, Foothill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evrett Rycroft, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI. Aidan Colburn was another, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Foothill has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 16-9 record this season. As for El Modena, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-7 and their overall record up to 10-15.

The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 2.4, the Spartans 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, El Modena is set to take on their familiar foe El Dorado at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
