Baseball Game Preview: Tyler Lions vs. Winona Wildcats

A feisty cat fight will be fought as Tyler Lions take on Winona Wildcats at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with eight consecutive losses for Tyler and 13 for Winona dating back to last season.

Tyler saw some tournament action on Saturday. They fell 6-2 to West Rusk.

Tyler saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Malachi Deleon, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Even though they lost, Tyler always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Winona's offense. They lost 11-0 to Waskom last Monday.

Tyler's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Winona, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Everything went Tyler's way against Winona when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Tyler made off with a 13-0 victory. Does Tyler have another victory up their sleeve, or will Winona turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
