Football Game Preview: Vinita Hornets vs. Verdigris Cardinals

The Vinita Hornets will venture away from home to challenge the Verdigris Cardinals at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vinita is looking for their season's first victory.

Vinita is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They took a 27-21 hit to the loss column at the hands of Sequoyah on Friday.

Despite the loss, Vinita got top-tier performance from Ethan Stephens, who rushed for 107 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries.

Meanwhile, Verdigris and Jay finished up on equal footing with a 12-12 draw on Friday.

With that draw, Verdigris' record moves to 3-0-1. As for Vinita, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Vinita didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Verdigris in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, but they still walked away with a 19-14 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
