Football Recap: Loyola College Prep Triumphs

Loyola College Prep took a 39-point defeat the last time they faced off against Northwood, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Flyers won a game that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by the Falcons 28-27. The 28-point effort marked the Flyers' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Bryce Restovich had another great game (as he tends to do), throwing for 292 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing for 80 yards and one TD. Those 80 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Jake Black was in the mix too, providing Loyola College Prep with two scores.

Loyola College Prep didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Northwood to a completion percentage of just 50%. The Flyers weren't nearly as limited: they posted one of 58.3%.

Loyola College Prep didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Hayden Horton and Blake Herkey. Horton also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 23.

Loss or not, Northwood got some senior leadership from John Sneed and Kyran Johnson. Sneed gained 150 total yards and three touchdowns, while Johnson gained 224 total yards and a touchdown. That high mark didn't come from nowhere: Johnson posted at least 120 rushing yards in the fifth games prior.

Loyola College Prep's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 9-1. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points over those games. As for Northwood, the defeat snapped their winning streak at five games and leaves them with a 8-2 record.

Loyola College Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Northwood, they will welcome Barbe at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams might be coming in a bit winded given these two teams combined for 1,092 yards in their previous games.
