Softball Game Preview: La Jolla Vikings vs. Mount Miguel Matadors

La Jolla is on an 18-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Mount Miguel a six-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Monday. The La Jolla Vikings will host the Mount Miguel Matadors at 3:30 p.m. La Jolla will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each match than the last.

La Jolla lost 25-19 to Bonsall on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (12), the Vikings still had to take the loss.

Savannah Putnam made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Madeleine Ehlert, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in five of her seven plate appearances.

Even though they lost, La Jolla kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Mount Miguel came up short against Orange Glen on Saturday, falling 12-2.

Mount Miguel saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was A Sinsay, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base.

Mount Miguel's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for La Jolla, their loss dropped their record down to 2-9.
