Basketball Recap: Valley Comes Up Short

Valley dropped to 18-10 on Saturday, ending the team's three-game streak of wins on the road. They took a blow against the St. Johns Redskins, falling 78-51. The Pirates were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-20.

As for St. Johns, their win was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 27-4. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points over those games.

St. Johns found their leader in freshman Jordan Tsinajinnie, who went 8-for-11 to rack up 16 points and eight boards. Tsinajinnie is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 50% in the last eight games she's played. Avalon Udall was another key player, dropping a double-double with ten points and 14 rebounds.

Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for St. Johns, they will welcome Fountain Hills at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Falcons' defense has only allowed 21.8 points per game this season, so the Redskins' offense will have their work cut out for them.
