Baseball Recap: Wheeler's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

After a string of four wins, Wheeler's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They fell just short of the Ledyard Colonels by a score of 6-5. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Colonels apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

James Main was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Furthermore, he didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.

Main wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Mason Perkins, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Wheeler's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Ledyard, their record is now 6-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wheeler will face off against Putnam at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Ledyard, they will challenge Killingly at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redmen's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so the Colonels' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
