The Danville Warriors will challenge the Zionsville Eagles at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Danville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.1 runs per game this season.
Danville will bounce into Saturday's matchup after beating Tri-West Hendricks, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Warriors had just enough and edged out the Bruins 5-3.
Autumn Muncy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Allie Gunter was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, one run, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Molly Anderson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Danville kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 16 consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Zionsville waltzed into their game on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They put the hurt on the Flashes with a sharp 9-1 win. Considering the Eagles have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Zionsville also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Leah Helton gave up a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Tess Bradford, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Sylvia Mudis, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.
Zionsville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Danville, their record now sits at 13-7.
Saturday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Danville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Zionsville struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Danville suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Zionsville in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
