Recap: Union Tigers vs. Tygarts Valley Bulldogs
After flying high against the Harman Panthers last Wednesday, the Union Tigers came back down to earth. Union fell 65-55 to Tygarts Valley on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Union's loss came despite strong showings from Braylon Ward and Josh Burdock. Ward almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine assists, while Burdock scored 18 points. Ward is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braxton Crites, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Kaden Moore continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Tygarts Valley, scoring 22 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Moore has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Wamsley, who scored 18 points.
Union's defeat dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Tygarts Valley, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-8.
Union will stay at home for another game and welcome Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 7:15 p.m. on February 12th. Turkeyfoot Valley Area will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something Union surely won't give up without a fight. Tygarts Valley's road trip will continue as they head out to face Doddridge County at 7:30 p.m. on February 13th. Doddridge County is coming into the match with six straight victories at home, so Tygarts Valley is out to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
