Basketball Recap: Dylan Izzi's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Norwalk over Fairfield Prep

On Saturday, the Norwalk Bears came up short against the Fairfield Prep Jesuits and fell 70-57. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 131st, while the Jesuits are ranked 30th).

Several Bears players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Dylan Izzi, who posted 12 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Ermo, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Even though they lost, Norwalk smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Norwalk has traveled a rocky road recently having lost ten of their last 11 games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season. As for Fairfield Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season.

Norwalk has already played their next contest, a 62-44 defeat against Greenwich on the 10th. As for Fairfield Prep, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 79-75 victory against Kolbe-Cathedral on the 10th.
