Basketball Recap: Morristown-Hamblen East Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Morristown-Hamblen East, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They managed a 53-49 victory over the William Blount Governors on Tuesday. For the Hurricanes, this counts as revenge for the 68-54 win the Governors walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2023.

Morristown-Hamblen East found their leader in sophomore Brayden Smith, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 16 points and seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Cory Carpenter, who posted nine points.

Morristown-Hamblen East's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for William Blount, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Morristown-Hamblen East will head out to face off against Sevier County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for William Blount, they will venture away from home to take on Northview Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Northview Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight games -- so hopefully William Blount likes a good challenge.
