Soccer Game Preview: Powell vs. Lenoir City

Powell hasn't had much luck against Lenoir City recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Powell will square off against Lenoir City at 6:30 p.m.

Powell managed to keep up with Dobyns-Bennett until halftime on Thursday, but things quickly went downhill from there. The Panthers came up short against the Indians, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Powell can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee soccer rankings (they are ranked 132nd, while Dobyns-Bennett are ranked 43rd).

Meanwhile, Lenoir City kept a clean sheet against Eagleton College & Career Academy on Thursday. They blew past the Royals 5-0.

Lenoir City's victory bumped their record up to 5-7-2. As for Powell, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-8-2.

Powell might still be hurting after the 5-2 loss they got from Lenoir City in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Powell was down 3-0.
