Preview: Tribe W Warriors vs. Lifegate Christian Falcons
Tribe W is 1-7 against Lifegate Christian since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Tribe W Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Lifegate Christian Falcons at 5:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Tribe W has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Lifegate Christian will arrive with nine straight wins.
Last Thursday, Tribe W had to suffer through a rough 64-17 loss at the hands of Grace Academy. While losing is never fun, Tribe W can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1345th, while Grace Academy is ranked 559th).
Meanwhile, Lifegate Christian stacked a 15th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard last Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 61-17 victory over Salem Sayers Baptist Academy at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-2.
Lifegate Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexi Crow, who scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Crow has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Elena Mendez, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Tribe W has not been sharp recently as the team's lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Lifegate Christian, their victory was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-1.
Tribe W came up short against Lifegate Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 41-30. Can Tribe W avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
