Softball Recap: Lyons' Undefeated Season over After Six Games

Wellington hit Lyons with a five-run seventh inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Lions fell 7-4 to the Eagles. The contest marked the Lions' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Gretta Wynja spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Greta Hildebrand was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. Those RBI marked the first that she has brought in this season.

Having lost for the first time this season, Lyons fell to 5-1. As for Wellington, they have started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lyons will face off against Limon at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Wellington, they will challenge The Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matchups.
