Softball Preview: Carroll Tigers vs. Bishop Badgers

The Carroll Tigers will be taking part in a tournament against the Bishop Badgers at 11:15 a.m. on Friday. Carroll is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

Carroll gave up the first runs on Thursday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Veterans Memorial by a score of 6-1.

Isabella Montalvo made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

In other batting news, Talina Valdez was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Ameris Garcia also deserves some recognition as she stole her first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Bishop won against Miller on Thursday with nine runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Thursday. Bishop was the clear victors by a 9-1 margin over Laredo LBJ. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Badgers.

Cambrie Rios tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Amanda Muniz, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jasmine Ramirez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Carroll's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.3 runs over those games. As for Bishop, their record now sits at 8-4.
