Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Mecklenburg). They really took it to the Garinger Wildcats for the full four quarters, racking up a 78-33 victory. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Wildcats are ranked 477th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Garinger's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jameer Nealy, who posted eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Soup, who scored nine points.

The win (which was East Mecklenburg's fourth in a row) raised their record to 12-7. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.5 points per game. As for Garinger, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-15 record this season.

East Mecklenburg wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 69-51 victory against Central Cabarrus on the 29th. As for Garinger, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 75-45 defeat against Independence on the 31st.
