Basketball Game Preview: Sinton Pirates vs. Rockport-Fulton Pirates

The Sinton Pirates will venture away from home to take on the Rockport-Fulton Pirates at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Having struggled with ten losses in a row, Sinton turned things around against Incarnate Word Academy on Friday. They came out on top against the Angels by a score of 61-49. That 12 point margin sets a new team best for the Pirates this season.

Meanwhile, Rockport-Fulton was able to grind out a solid win over Tuloso-Midway on Friday, taking the game 64-56.

Rockport-Fulton's win came from a few key players Sinton will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brian Kizer Jr, who went 10 of 18 on his way to 22 points and six boards. That's the most rebounds he has posted since back in November of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Cox, who went 5 of 9 on his way to 14 points and three steals.

Sinton's victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-16. As for Rockport-Fulton, their win bumped their record up to 12-14.

Everything went Sinton's way against Rockport-Fulton in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as Sinton made off with a 79-53 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Sinton since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
