Softball Recap: Normal University's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak at Home

Normal University and Rochester pushed the score to 12-8 the last time they played Rochester, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Pioneers fell just short of the Rockets by a score of 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Pioneers have suffered against the Rockets since April 24, 2019.

Makenzie Post spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Normal University saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Meera Sundaram, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Normal University's loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-6. As for Rochester, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Normal University will welcome Tremont at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rochester, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Normal West at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Rockets surely won't give up without a fight.
