Pekin hasn't had much luck against Metamora recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Dragons will host the Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. Pekin is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.9 runs per game this season.

Pekin will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up two runs on Thursday, then bounced right back against Morton on Tuesday. The Dragons blew past the Potters 19-4. While the Dragons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Zoe Lindahl made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Lindahl was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Brooklyn Beckham was incredible, scoring four runs while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Sarah Baughman, who went 2-for-5 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Pekin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .455. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Meanwhile, Metamora earned a 5-1 victory over Mt. Zion on Wednesday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Redbirds.

Pekin's win was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-3. As for Metamora, their victory bumped their record up to 11-4.

Pekin came up short against Metamora in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, falling 4-1. Can the Dragons avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
