Baseball Recap: American Takes a Loss

American had lost three straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped their record down to 4-14 to make it four. They took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Kennedy Titans. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Titans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Wednesday.

American got a good showing from Micah Boo, who struck out nine batters over four innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Boo has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, American saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Justin Furtado, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

As for Kennedy, they now have a winning record of 10-9. The win was familiar territory for they, who have now won four matches in a row.

On Kennedy's side, Nick Owsley was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. American will face off against Arroyo at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Dons have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season. As for Kennedy, they will take on Newark Memorial at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
