Basketball Recap: Soldotna Comes Up Short

Soldotna was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by the Mountain City Christian Academy Lions and fell 73-40. The Stars were down 53-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Mountain City Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lukas Underhile led the charge by going 6 for 14 on his way to 22 points in addition to eight boards and seven assists. Those 22 points gave Underhile a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaidhen Oyao, who went 7 of 12 en route to 18 points along with six assists and four steals.

Soldotna now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Mountain City Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-3 record this season.

Soldotna will be taking part in a tournament against Cook Inlet Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mountain City Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 67-58 defeat against Palmer on the 21st.
