Football Game Preview: Bishop Gorman Crusaders vs. Covenant Knights

Bishop Gorman hasn't had much luck against Covenant recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Crusaders will take on the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Bishop Gorman will be strutting in after a victory while Covenant will be coming in after a loss.

Bishop Gorman took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took their game with ease, bagging a 40-7 win over Shelton. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Crusaders considering their 12-point performance the contest before.

Bishop Gorman got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jack Coan out in front who picked up 112 receiving yards and a pair of TDs. Another rusher making a difference was Jeremiah Fain, who rushed for 100 yards and one touchdown on only eight carries.

Bishop Gorman was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 211 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.

Another reason for the win was Bishop Gorman's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for four sacks. Shelton's QB won't forget Kamauri Alford anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Alford also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with 13.

Meanwhile, Covenant scored first but ultimately less than Dallas Christian in their matchup on Thursday. They were outmatched by the Chargers and fell 45-7. The defeat continues a trend for the Knights in their meetings with the Chargers: they've now lost five in a row.

Covenant's loss dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Bishop Gorman, their win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-6.

Bishop Gorman was taken down by Covenant 48-6 in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Crusaders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
