Basketball Recap: East Henderson Eagles vs. Smoky Mountain Mustangs

East Henderson lost against Smoky Mountain back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The East Henderson Eagles were dealt a 70-42 loss at the hands of the Smoky Mountain Mustangs. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Madi McCall, who posted six points. That's the most points McCall has posted since back in December of 2024. Kassie Everson was another key player, putting up nine points.

Even though they lost, East Henderson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Smoky Mountain to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aaliyah Voss, who went 6-for-11 en route to 17 points in addition to six assists and three steals. The game was Voss' third in a row with at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kailey Broom, who had 13 points and six assists.

East Henderson's defeat dropped their record down to 9-15. As for Smoky Mountain, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-15.

While East Henderson had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
