Basketball Recap: Horizon Honors Comes Up Short

Horizon Honors lost against Phoenix Country Day back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Horizon Honors Eagles took a blow against the Phoenix Country Day Eagles, falling 68-35. While losing is never fun, Horizon Honors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Phoenix Country Day is ranked 17th).

Despite the loss, Horizon Honors still got an impressive performance from Audriana Anglada, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 20 points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Alicia Londono, who posted eight points and nine boards.

Aila Kaibara continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Phoenix Country Day, going 7 of 16 en route to 22 points and four steals. Kaibara is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Erin Patterson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Horizon Honors' loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Phoenix Country Day, the victory (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.

Horizon Honors didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-33 win against Benjamin Franklin on the 13th. As for Phoenix Country Day, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 57-16 victory against Rancho Solano Prep on the 13th.
