Softball Recap: Blue Ridge Victorious

Blue Ridge's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Martinsville Bluestreaks, sneaking past 6-4. The victory continues a trend for the Knights in their matchups with the Bluestreaks: they've now won three in a row.

Olivia Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Addison Roos, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Ellie Hayward was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Blue Ridge hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Martinsville struck out ten times.

Blue Ridge's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-4. As for Martinsville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Blue Ridge didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 17-3 loss against Villa Grove on the 6th. As for Martinsville, they have also already played their next contest, a 9-5 defeat against St. Elmo/Brownstown on the 6th.
