Preview: Murphy vs. Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy

Murphy has had a week off and is no doubt ready to get back on the field. They will face off against Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy in a playoff matchup on Thursday. Murphy has a defense that allows only 12.27 points per game, so Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy's offense will have their work cut out for them.

It was close but no cigar for the Bulldogs as they fell 17-14 to Robbinsville two weeks ago. Murphy's defeat came about despite a quality game from Ray Rathburn, who rushed for 127 yards and one TD on ten carries.

Meanwhile, Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy earned some postseason bragging rights after a successful outing last Friday. They put a hurting on West Columbus to the tune of 56-14. The Phoenix's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Timothy Davis, who passed for 260 yards and five TDs, and Tresean Stewart, who rushed for 115 yards and two TDs on ten carries.

Winston-Salem Preparatory Academy's win lifted them to 8-5 while Murphy's loss dropped them down to 10-2. We'll see if the Phoenix's success rolls on or if the Bulldogs are able to steal their positive momentum.
