Softball Recap: Sun Valley Takes a Loss

The Sun Valley Spartans lost 12-1 to the Covenant Day Lions on Friday. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sun Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaida Bates (2026), who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Bates (2026) a new career-high. Nykoll Vera (2027) also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Sun Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Covenant Day, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Sun Valley will square off against Charlotte Latin at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlotte Latin will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Sun Valley surely won't give up without a fight. As for Covenant Day, they will face off against Charlotte Country Day School at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
