Volleyball Recap: Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] Falls to Southern Valley in First Game of Season

Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] kicked off their season on the road on Thursday and hit a couple of potholes. They fell just short of the Southern Valley Eagles by a score of 3-2. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it 11 in a row.

Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] actually scored more points across those five sets (103-96), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-20, 15-25, 16-25, 15-12.

Lauryn Ruda paced Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood]'s offense, picking up 14 kills. Ruda got some help from Klaire Pohl and her 27 assists. Pohl was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Southern Valley found their leader in sophomore Laney Becker, who had seven digs and three aces.

Hi-Line [Eustis-Farnam/Elwood] didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-0 loss against Arcadia/Loup City on the 29th. As for Southern Valley, they are taking a road trip to face off against Gothenburg at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
