Preview: Platte Valley Broncos vs. Berthoud Spartans
The Platte Valley Broncos's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Berthoud Spartans at 5:30 p.m. on December 12th. Hopefully Platte Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 24 on Saturday.
Last Saturday, Platte Valley ended up a good deal behind DSST: Montview and lost 67-50.
Despite the loss, Platte Valley got a solid performance out of Braylon Edstrom, who scored 25 points along with 9 rebounds. The contest was Edstrom's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kody Reusink, who scored 2 points along with 10 rebounds.
Berthoud has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 28 points or more this season. They blew past Kennedy, posting a 94-55 win on the road. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Reece Stratmeyer was his usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with 7 rebounds and 6 assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Tate Gomes, who scored 14 points along with 4 steals.
Their wins lifted both teams to an identical 3-2.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's match: Platte Valley have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.6 threes per game. It's a different story for Berthoud, though, as they've been averaging only 7.2 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out. Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
Everything went Platte Valley's way against Berthoud in their previous meeting back in January as Platte Valley made off with a 71-45 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Platte Valley since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
