Football Recap: Spooner Takes a Loss

Spooner came into their game on Friday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They took a blow against the Northwestern Tigers, falling 35-7. The Rails lost against the Tigers in their previous head to head back in September of 2024, too, but the margin this time around was much closer than the 56-7 score last time.

Mason Chell was a one-man wrecking crew For Northwestern. as he rushed for 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Spooner's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Northwestern, they pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Spooner is set to take on their familiar foe Hayward/Lac Courte Oreilles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Northwestern will square off against rival St. Croix Falls at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
