Basketball Game Preview: Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights vs. Prout Crusaders

Exeter-West Greenwich hasn't had much luck against Prout recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights will square off against the Prout Crusaders at 8:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Exeter-West Greenwich sitting on 11 straight victories and Prout on four.

Exeter-West Greenwich found their leader in sophomore Kate Hebert, who posted 14 points along with seven rebounds and seven steals. Hebert has been hot recently, having posted five or more steals the last three times she's played. Niniola Olawuyi was another key player, putting up 13 points in addition to seven boards and four steals.

Meanwhile, Prout faced North Providence in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. Prout enjoyed a cozy 51-35 victory over North Providence.

Exeter-West Greenwich better focus on containing Seneca Fielding and Lauren Gill as the pair were huge in Prout's win. Fielding dropped a double-double with 12 points and 15 rebounds, while Gill went 7-for-14 on her way to 16 points and five boards. The dominant performance gave Fielding a new career-high in rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Sophia Hipsman, who had 11 points.

Prout pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 22.9 points over those games. As for Exeter-West Greenwich, their victory bumped their record up to 21-3.

Exeter-West Greenwich came up short against Prout in their previous matchup back in January, falling 49-39.
