Baseball Game Preview: South Dearborn Knights vs. Switzerland County Pacers

For the second straight game, South Dearborn will face off against Switzerland County. The Knights will square off against the Pacers at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

South Dearborn took a loss when they played away from home on Thursday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They blew past Switzerland County 11-5. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Pacers recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Tyeler Gulden made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Those three hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Jackson Johnson and Conor Huff did most of the damage at the plate: Johnson went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI, while Huff went 2-for-4 with two runs and one RBI. That's the most runs Huff has posted since May 1st.

The victory got South Dearborn back to even at 11-11. As for Switzerland County, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 12-11.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Saturday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. South Dearborn has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Switzerland County struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 8.7 strikeouts.
