Basketball Recap: Valley Center Comes Up Short

Valley Center lost against South back in December of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Valley Center Hornets took a 38-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the South Cougars. The Hornets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

South got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Tamia Cheeks out in front who posted 12 points and five boards. Cheeks has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paityn Fritz, who scored nine points and eight rebounds.

Valley Center's defeat dropped their record down to 10-9. As for South, their victory bumped their record up to 10-8.

Coming up, Valley Center will challenge Arkansas City at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for South, a feisty cat fight will be fought as the Cougars challenge the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Derby is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 50.8 points per game this season.
