Softball Recap: Freeman Gets the Win

While Freeman's victory against Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Scotties sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 win over the Broncos on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Scotties in their matchups with the Broncos: they've now won six in a row.

Rilyn Ripke made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 16 over seven innings pitched. Those 16 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run. She is on a roll when it comes to home runs, as she's now launched at least one in each of the last three games she's played.

Ripke wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaylee Ripke, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.

Freeman's record now sits at 8-2. As for Lind-Ritzville/Sprague/Washtucna, they dropped their record down to 4-6 with the defeat, which was their third straight at home.

Freeman will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Broncos: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
