Baseball Recap: Grandview Beats Boulder for Their Sixth Straight Win

Grandview had already won five in a row and they went ahead and made it six on Saturday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Boulder Panthers. The Wolves have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Panthers, too.

Grandview got a great performance from Justin Dean as he tossed five innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Dean has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Kyle Cacciavillani, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of AJ Maroni, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Grandview's win was their ninth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Boulder, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Looking ahead, Grandview will host Arapahoe at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Boulder, they are taking a road trip to take on Mountain Range at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Panthers are facing the Mustangs at the right time seeing as the Mustangs are stuck on a 13-game losing streak.
