Baseball Game Preview: Carroll Chargers vs. Homestead Spartans

Carroll and Homestead are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Chargers will welcome the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Carroll will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

Carroll lost 15-8 to Penn on Saturday. The loss continues a trend for the Chargers in their meetings with the Kingsmen: they've now lost five in a row.

Jaxon Sparks was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Carroll is 6-3 when Sparks posts two or more runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Carter Irons was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs.

Meanwhile, Homestead entered their match against Fort Wayne Snider on Saturday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Spartans took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers.

Aiden Phillips made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Shane Bardwell, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases.

Homestead's defeat dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Carroll, their loss dropped their record down to 10-10.
