Volleyball Game Preview: Bishop Hendricken Hawks vs. North Kingstown Skippers

Bishop Hendricken hasn't had much luck against North Kingstown recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Skippers at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bishop Hendricken is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Rhode Island's top teams: East Providence, who was ranked fifth at the time (Bishop Hendricken was ranked 14th). The Hawks sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 win over the Townies on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Hawks have posted since May 23, 2024.

Meanwhile, North Kingstown strolled into their game on Wednesday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They walked away with a 3-1 win over Coventry.

The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 25-14, 22-25, 25-21.

Bishop Hendricken better keep an eye on Stephen Dufour. He was instrumental in North Kingstown's win, getting nine digs and two aces.

With the victory, Bishop Hendricken broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 7-8. As for North Kingstown, their win was their 20th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-0.

Bishop Hendricken suffered a grim 3-0 defeat to North Kingstown when the teams last played two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Skippers' Jayden Yang, who had five digs and three aces.
