Volleyball Game Preview: Maranatha Minutemen vs. Whittier Christian Heralds

The Maranatha Minutemen will head out to challenge the Whittier Christian Heralds at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.

Last Tuesday, Maranatha came up short against Valley Christian and fell 3-1. The Minutemen have struggled against the Defenders recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

The match finished with set scores of 25-8, 23-25, 25-19, 25-19.

Meanwhile, Whittier Christian had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They came out on top against Heritage Christian by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday.

Whittier Christian had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The final score came out to 15-25, 25-11, 25-14, 25-21.

Whittier Christian found their leader in sophomore Anwar Klewer, who had 13 digs and two assists. Mark Zamarripa also deserves some recognition as he had his first dig of the season.

Whittier Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 13 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since the start of last season.

Maranatha's defeat dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Whittier Christian, their record is now 6-15.

Maranatha might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Whittier Christian in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Minutemen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
