Baseball Game Preview: Simla Cubs vs. Custer County Bobcats

The Simla Cubs will face off against the Custer County Bobcats on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Custer County will be up against a hot Simla squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Cubs blew past Calhan 16-6 on Saturday.

Tatum Kocerha was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Simla is undefeated when Kocerha posts two or more runs, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Nathaniel Cauthon, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Simla always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, it's playoff time, and Custer County had no trouble coming through when it counted. They put the hurt on Elbert with a sharp 13-6 victory on Tuesday.

Simla's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Custer County, their victory bumped their record up to 9-11.

Simla got the 'W' in their previous matchup two weeks ago against Custer County by a conclusive 15-5 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cubs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
