Recap: Palm Bay Pirates vs. Somerset College Prep Academy Spartans
The Palm Bay Pirates stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They were the clear victor by a 67-47 margin over Somerset College Prep Academy. Given Palm Bay's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Somerset College Prep Academy is ranked 168th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Palm Bay to victory, but perhaps none more so than Natalie Allen, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Kiara Williams, who scored eight points along with two steals.
Somerset College Prep Academy's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Kayla Curry, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks, and Kaeley Ciceron who scored ten points along with six assists and five rebounds. Ciceron is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Khloe Rodgers was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Palm Bay's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.4 points per game. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 10-6.
Palm Bay and Heritage will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Heritage will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Somerset College Prep Academy, they will be playing at home against Cardinal Newman at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
