Volleyball Game Preview: Nazareth Academy Roadrunners vs. Hinsdale Central Red Devils

The Nazareth Academy Roadrunners will square off against the Hinsdale Central Red Devils at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Hinsdale Central took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Nazareth Academy, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with six defeats in a row, Nazareth Academy turned things around against St. Edward on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out the Green Wave 2-1.

Nazareth Academy had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-16, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Hinsdale Central unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Lyons.

While Hinsdale Central had to settle for second, they sure made a game of it, scoring at least 20 points in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-21, 25-20.

Nazareth Academy will have to keep a close watch on Ken Reodica and Harry Hughes, a pair of players who had a big impact on Hinsdale Central's prior game. Reodica had 14 digs, while Hughes had 14 assists and four digs. Hughes is on a roll when it comes to assists, as he's now posted 12 or more in each of the last 13 games he's played.

Nazareth Academy's win bumped their record up to 9-25. As for Hinsdale Central, their loss dropped their record down to 10-23.

Nazareth Academy came up short against Hinsdale Central in their previous meeting back in May of 2023, falling 2-0. Can the Roadrunners avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
