Basketball Game Preview: Freeport Pretzels vs. Guilford Vikings + Official Tickets

Freeport is 0-10 against Guilford since February of 2020 but things could change on Friday. The Pretzels will be home for the holidays to greet the Vikings at 7:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Wednesday, Freeport came up short against Harlem and fell 68-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (60), the Pretzels still had to take the loss.

Freeport's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Andrew Seward, who went 8-for-11 on his way to 18 points, and Isaiah Baker, who dropped a double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Baker continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kazion Morehead, who posted 11 points and five boards.

Meanwhile, Guilford came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 points), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the E-Rabs by a score of 68-60. Given the Vikings' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 93rd, while the E-Rabs are ranked 474th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Freeport's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Guilford, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Freeport ended up a good deal behind Guilford when the teams last played back in January, losing 70-52. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Vikings' Branden Chatman, who had 27 points. Now that the Pretzels know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time?
