It was a good run, but Lubbock-Cooper unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Coronado Mustangs by a score of 5-4. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 11-0.

Lubbock-Cooper's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 13-9. As for Coronado, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-10 record this season.
