Baseball Recap: Santa Clara Comes Up Short

Santa Clara was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their tenth straight defeat. They came up short against the Dunn Earwigs, falling 8-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Earwigs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 last Tuesday.

Elian Herrera spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered five earned (and three unearned) runs on two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Dylan White made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Santa Clara's loss dropped their record down to 0-10. As for Dunn, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Looking ahead, Santa Clara will take on Hueneme at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. Dunn will be paying especially close attention to the Saints' match: after the Saints faces off against Cate, they'll take on Dunn again at 4:00 p.m. on the 24th.
