Basketball Recap: Mccook Beats Kearney Catholic for Their Third Straight Victory

McCook entered their tilt with Kearney Catholic on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 55-45 victory over the Kearney Catholic Stars. The 55-point effort marked the Bison's lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Defeat or not, Kearney Catholic got some senior leadership from Oliver Sharp and Owen Axmann. Sharp posted 16 points and six rebounds, while Axmann earned 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for Axmann. The team also got some help courtesy of Jacob Bosshamer, who put up eight points and four steals.

McCook's record now sits at 4-2. As for Kearney Catholic, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

McCook and Holdrege will face off at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday without much rest having both just played. One thing working in McCook's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season. As for Kearney Catholic, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Grand Island Central Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
