Nansemond River hadn't done well against Western Branch recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Nansemond River Warriors walked away with a 64-53 win over the Western Branch Bruins. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 76-67 back in January.

Western Branch's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markel Smith, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Zyon Barnes, who put up 11 points.

Nansemond River is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Western Branch, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-10.
