Preview: Newton Railroaders vs. South Cougars
Newton is 2-8 against South since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Newton Railroaders will look to defend their home court against the South Cougars at 6:00 a.m. Newton will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 290th, while South is ranked 130th).
Last Friday, Newton took a serious blow against Derby, falling 70-32. Newton has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Meanwhile, South had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They blew past Haysville Campus 54-28. The win was just what South needed coming off of a 58-37 defeat in their prior contest.
Newton has not been sharp recently as the team has lost ten of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-13 record this season. As for South, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
