The Cordova Blue Devils will challenge the Oakman Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Cordova is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
Cordova was handed a seven-run loss in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Danville 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since April 23, 2024.
Chloe Phillips was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Chloe Kacharos, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Cordova hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 7-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Oakman had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Lynn on Thursday as Oakman made off with a 10-3 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Wildcats considering their two-run performance the contest before.
Sophie Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Oakman got a massive performance out of Journi Randle, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Aubrie Franks, who went 3-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Oakman's victory bumped their record up to 9-10. As for Cordova, their win bumped their record up to 9-6.
Everything went Cordova's way against Oakman in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Cordova made off with a 13-1 victory. Does Cordova have another victory up their sleeve, or will Oakman turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
