            Baseball Recap: Leland Cubs vs. South Delta Bulldogs        
        
		
        
        
            Leland won the last time they faced South Delta and things went their way  on Friday too. Leland blew past South Delta 17-8. Considering the Cubs have won five games by more than five  runs this season, Friday's  blowout was nothing new.
 Jamikel Thomas made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He  struck out seven batters over  three innings while giving up just two earned runs off   one  hit. Thomas was also solid in the batter's box,  going 2-for-4 with one  triple, one  stolen base,  and one  double. Thomas is  crushing it when it comes to  stolen bases: he's   snagged at least one every time he's  taken the field this season.

 In other batting news,  Kevandre Rawls was  incredible,  scoring four  runs and  stealing six bases while  getting on base  in all four of his plate appearances. Those  six  stolen bases gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Sylvester Ross, who  scored two  runs and  stole seven bases while  getting on base  in two of his four plate appearances.
Leland pushed their record up to 6-5 with the  win, which was their fifth straight  at home. Those  victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 18.4 runs over those games. As for South Delta,  they are  on  a  three-game losing streak  that has dropped them down to 2-5.
 Leland has  already played their next  match (against North Side), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for South Delta, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on West Tallahatchie  at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday.
